Week 1: SCIENCE 🧪
PALEONTOLOGY 🦖🦕
Students excitedly explored all about dinosaurs. Peers learned through play as they practiced naming types of dinosaur figurines in the sandbox and splash pad. In addition, a class collaborative board game, “Dinosaur Escape” was played.

Preschool paleontologists painted large paper T-Rex’s. All created their own dinosaur type by combing their name and “osaurus”
PALEONTOLOGIST HATS LINKED HERE
Additional fun included alphabet matching (uppercase and lowercase letter identification), completing puzzles, fossil stencil rubbing and an outdoor storytime.
GEOLOGY🪨💎
Rocks, minerals and gems were discovered through interactive lessons. Magnifying glasses were utilized to inspect numerous stones. Classmates also passed around volcanic rock, geodes, crystals, amethyst and pyrite.
The group put on safety goggles and gathered at their “excavation site” to dig out and pan for their very own rocks. In addition, classmates completed a related worksheet using rock shaped crayons.
ANATOMY & MICROSCOPY🧠🔬
Parts of the body and their functions were explained and labeled using a human body costume. The classic game, “Operation” was played as well.
All took turns using a microscope to view small items up close.
SCIENCE FAIR 🧑🔬
SMART START scientists enthusiastically brought in an item to school that represented a branch of science. Exhibits included astronomy, chemistry, botany and more!
Week 2: SMART ART 🎨
Aspiring artists were most ecstatic for art week! Projects were produced each day to fill a portfolio bag to bring home. Aside from being fun to create, each craft promoted an area of childhood development (fine motor, cognitive, gross motor, social-emotional) and fostered creativity, self-expression and more!
